Elephant Safari Jaldapara

This is the elephant safari that we undertook at Jaldapara National Park in Dooars. This is the first morning ride which starts at 6am from Hollong Lodge (of WBFDC) located 7kms inside the jungle from the entry gate at Madarihat. Each safari is for 1 hour and three such safaris take place every day in the morning one after the other and by the same four elephants. There are also accompanying cubs without which the mother elephants would refuse the rides. You can spot a wide range of wildlife while on the safari. However, the main objective of the elephant safari is the sighting of one-horned Asiatic rhinos and we were lucky to spot two of them at two different places. You can also see deers of various types, bisons (gaurs), elephants, wild boars, a Each elephant can carry four persons. Guests of Hollong Lodge are given the first priority and remaining free slots are distributed to Madarihat Tourist Lodge (of WBTDCL) and other private hotels at Madarihat. You can book the elephant safari through your hotel but it is not easy to get a slot, you may need to wait for 2 to 3 days for your turn. You can only book the elephant safari after arriving at Jaldapara and not earlier in advance.
